Broadway Market was a long-term area regeneration project focused around redelivering a historic but dilapidated street market in a deprived London borough. We ended up creating one of the most popular destinations in London which lead to the regeneration of a neglected area of Hackney attracting numerous businesses and developers.
The project also supported thousands of small, local, independent businesses and start ups, becoming one of the main platforms that developed the UK’s street food industry. This created local jobs and drove numerous benefits to the local economy.
It was developed with a business model, heavily integrated with the community and delivered under the structure of a Community Interest Company (CIC) that combined operations and community investment, delivering over £150,000 in grants to local community projects via a local steering group.
This project revolutionised street markets and retail in London.
